One interfraternity talent show in college had the unfortunate theme of "The Sixties." Two-thirds of the groups showed up to sing this song. It got to the point where the audience would recognize the opening chord and start booing.

To this day I still have that knee-jerk reaction to this song.

I'm certain that going to high school with a girl whose nickname was "Tootie" and whose friends would sing this song, substituting in the first syllable of her nickname, doesn't help matters either.

Ha. I know exactly what you mean. I have the same reaction to certain 70's songs. Hmm...actually anything by the band Boston. They were supposedly Hard Rock enough that the rock stations gave them air time, but they were harmless sounding enough that even the AM stations played them. I could stand them the first four million times I heard them, but damn! My father, a very cool guy in his own right, once described them as an orchestra of buzzsaws with an out of tune Skilsaw on lead vocals. I agree. I still dig this Beatles song though.
